  After 18 yrs of amazing service for my self and my family Dr. Derrick Nordstrom is turning over his regular services and concentrating on dental surgery. This was indeed sad news. I staring looking for a closer dentist, I drive from santa cruz county but no one could recommend there dentist and through out my life since childhood I have had incompetent dentists till Derrick Nordstrom . so I went to the "the new guy" Dr. Ward in the same office with my husband for a small filling. I was skeptical and for the first 10 mins. I was not impressed, but I must say that as the procedure and filling went on over the next 40 mins or so i realized that this dentist was into his work, concentrating and I was pleasantly surprised at his work. I asked him when he was done ,"why did you become a dentist "? Dr Ward responded with my condensed version, that dentistry was never boring to him and that he really enjoyed working with his hands. he said "when I finely decided in med school what I wanted and chose dentistry it felt right and I have never looked back I know I made the right decision."
  I feel confident that Dr. ward will become a 5 star dentist over time and so i am staying with this office.
  I will say I was not impressed with my cleaning, they have changed hygienists and no way are my teeth as clean as the former hygienist. but the dentistry is very good.
